Dionex Ion Chromatography with Conductivity Detection (Anion/Cation)


The Dionex Anion/Cation system consists of 2 Dionex ICS-2100 RFIC pumps coupled with a Dionex ICS Series AS-AP autosampler. The instrument separates and detects both anions and cations. Samples must be liquids in order to be run on the Anion/Cation system.






Dionex  Anion Chromatography with UV  Detection (Nitrates)


The Dionex Nitrates System consists of a Dionex ICS 5000 Pump, a Dionex AS-AP Autosampler, a Dionex UV-Vis, and a computer. Currently, the system is primarily used for the analysis of nitrate levels in aquatic environments because it detects nitrate levels in water quickly and easily. Using Ion Chromatography (IC), a type of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and a chromatographic technique that separates, identifies, and quantitates compounds in a liquid sample, nitrate levels in water are easily monitored. Requiring little sample preparation (simply dilutions), it identifies and quantifies the nitrates present in a water sample. The instrumentation is controlled by Chromeleon software which is used for configuring the instruments, controlling the instruments, queuing samples, and analyzing data. Samples must be liquids in order to be run with HPLC. Soluble solids must be diluted in HPLC grade solvents only such as water, methanol, acetonitrile, or chloroform.


Dionex HPAEC-PAD (Glucose) 

glucoseThe Dionex DS-600 System consists of a Dionex AS50 Autosampler, LC30 Chromatography Oven, GP 50 Gradient Pump, ED 50 Electrochemical Detector, and a computer featuring Chromeleon software. The instrument uses high performance liquid chromatography to separate anions and detect them using Pulsed Amperiometric Detection (PAD).  This system is used to separate mono-, di- and oligio-saccharides, sugar alcohols and amino sugars. Samples must be in liquid form in HPLC grade solvents in order to be run on the DS-600.





Dionex UltiMate 3000

Samples must be liquids in order to be run with HPLC. Soluble solids must be diluted in HPLC grade solvents only such as water, methanol, acetonitrile, or chloroform.








PerkinElmer Flexar FX-15 UHPLC (Fluorescence, PDA, and UV/Vis)

Waters Delta 600 Semi-preparative HPLC system

The Waters Delta 600 semi-preparative HPLC is a technique used to  separate large quantities of analyte for  separation and purification. Semi-preparative HPLC utilizes a larger column with higher flow rates to allow larger amounts of material than traditional HPLC (>10 mg) to be injected. Commonly, semi-preparative systems are used for purification of an analyte requiring higher concentrations while using significantly less solvent then traditional gravity columns. Detection methods include PDA and Fluorescence detection.



PerkinElmer Pyris 1 Thermogravimetric Analyser with GC-MS


The PerkinElmer Pyris 1 thermogravimetric analyser (TGA) is powerful technique used to analyse physical and chemical properties relative to temperature. TGA is used to measure a change in mass relative to an increase in temperature which can provide such information as melting point, water content, polymer content and various other applications. When coupled to the PerkinElmer Clarus gas chromatograph with SQ8 Single Quad mass spectrometer (GC-MS), the outgassing species from the sample during the TGA analysis can be identified and separated increasing total productivity of the project by providing 3 types of analysis for an individual run.
